THE WEEKEND STARTED OUT WITH THE EASTERN BOARDER TEAM DOING SOME DEMOS ON THURSDAY TO KEEP THE CROUD AT THE BEWI BOSTON GLOBE SKI & SNOWBOARD EXPO ENTERTAINED. FRIDAY NIGHT THE GUYS FROM RAW CAME BY TO DO A DEMO AS WELL AS SOME OF THE TEAM FROM ORCHARD AND MANNY SANTIAGO FROM THINK WITH FRIENDS FROM SHAPE DEUCE. THE GUYS FROM ORCHARD ALSO THEW DOWM SOME CASH FOR A BEST TRICK JAM ON FRIDAY NIGHT. SKATERS FROM ALL AROUND NEW ENGLAND SHOWED UP SATURDAY FOR THE FALL BRAWL. JUST BEFOR THE CONTEST, WE STARTED THINGS OFF WITH THE SPUNIE HIGH OLLIE CONTEST BY CONCEPTS AND ELEMENT. IAN DAVIS STEPPED UP AND GAVE PAT HICKEY A RUN FOR HIS MONEY AND IN THE END THEY CALLED IT A TIE AT 39 INCHES. FOR THEIR EFFORTS IAN AND PAT SPLIT THE $500.00 AND TOOK $250.00 EACH STRAIGHT OUT OF THE POCKET OF SPUNGIE. IT WAS GOING TO BE HARD TO BEAT OUT BOSTON'S OWN GAVIN MACMAHON-NOLAN (2ND PLACE - $800.00) WHO WAS KILLING THE COURSE WITH POWERFUL SMOOTH STYLE. CONSISTENCY PROVED TO BE THE KEY TO VICTORY AND IT ENDED UP BEING NEW HAMPSHIRE LOCAL BRETT PAGODA WHO WENT HOME WITH THE FIRST PLACE $1200.00! CROWD FAVORITE NOLAN CORMIER TOOK HOME 3RD PLACE AND $400.00 FOR PULLING BIG AIRS AND KEEPING THE ENERGY LEVEL HIGH AFTER RIPPING OFF HIS SLEEVES. SPITFIRE THREW IN SOME PRODUCT FOR THE BURNER AWARD WHICH WAS GIVEN TO NICK "ACE" BRATKO FOR HIS FIRST TRY ROLL-IN OFF THE ROOF OF THE VITAMINWATER VAN. VITAMINWATER EVEN TOPPED OF THE BURNER AWARD KICKING IN $250.00 CASH FOR NICK. EVERYONE THERE WAS ALSO SURPRISED RIGHT BEFOR THE FINALS WHEN THE GUYS FROM ROME SNOWBOARDS, WHOS TENT WAS RIGHT A CROSS FROM THE COURSE, ROLLED UP A CURTAIN WHICH WAS SURROUNDING THEIR TENT AND THE BAND SPITJACK STARTED BLASTING A SET AND GETTING THE CROWD HYPED. FALL BRAWL WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR AND BETTER THAN EVER SO KEEP YOUR HEADS UP!

Yes, this is New England, and we all pay attention to the Boston and the NYC skate scene a ton, all of the mags talk about California and the Pacific Northwest, but there are skateboarders everywhere, we know that. We check Dirty Shire, Maine Skateboarding, Boppo, Shape, Quartersnacks, Elscarehouse, and all that kinda stuff on the regular, but there's some other stuff to peep. Check out this edit from some dudes in Wisconsin. They run a site called WI Skate that is pretty rad.
